if there’s something I love, it’s good old fashioned HISTORY! So I did some rigorous research on the history of the bicycle, and here’s something funny I found. It’s the earliest example of a draisienne, a fixed, pedal-less wheeled predecessor of the bicycle. It’s called a “celerifere” and it was invented by French Comte de Sivrac. I don’t know about you, but I just love the possibility that this was the first bicycle ever. like, just imagine it’s the end of the 1700′s, and everything’s horses and yellow fever and Napoleon Bonaparte, and suddenly, some guy flies down the path on one of these. like “weeeeeeeeee!”
